This years event was a complete success and we raised close to $10,000.00! I wanted to take a moment and thank everyone who came out and helped make the event such a huge success this year. I met a lot of wonderful people Friday night that came from all over Florida and even as far as Texas to support the cause. There were even a couple survivors who have recently been diagnosed that were able to come out and play in the tournament.
The tournament started around 7 PM and finished close to 11 PM. With just about 70 players registering for the event we had a few alternates that couldn't sit right away but we were able to get everyone sat before the first break of the evening. The rest of the tournament went off with out a hitch. Once we got down to the final 9 players we auctioned off the 10th seat of the final table for $350.00 that went to Dr. Steve Racine. Once we started back up it didn't take long to get to our winner Jose Garcia who went heads up with John Polk to win the event and Kris Adams came in third.
Already looking forward to next years event and seeing everyone there again. Till next year GOD BLESS!

Another thing we are doing the evening of the tournament is the 50/50 Last Man Standing Contest. How this works each person who donates $10 dollars to participate will get a bracelet to put on their arm to mark that they are taking part in the contest. All the money collected will be split 50/50 between the charity and the last man standing at the end of the evening will win 50% of the total money collect. This is a great way to raise some extra money for the Pancreatic Cancer Network and All In For A Cure.

Patrick Swayze was a shining star in Hollywood and will be missed by fans from around the world. His brave, public battle with pancreatic cancer provided hope for all those afflicted with this terrible disease.
For nearly two years he beat the odds stacked against him and brought awareness to the fourth leading cause of cancer death in the United States. In fact, 76% of patients die within the first year of diagnosis and the five year survival rate is just 5% because there are no effective early detection tools or treatments for this disease. Despite these statistics, pancreatic cancer is the least funded among leading cancer killers in our country.
We must take action to ensure scientific progress is made to give pancreatic cancer patients a fighting chance. We need our Members of Congress to co-sponsor The Pancreatic Cancer Research & Education Act so that we will have the necessary funding to make true progress against this disease. This is critical now more than ever because the number of pancreatic cancer patients is projected to increase by 12% in 2009 and by 55% by 2030.
